Welcome to 2nd quarter
First quarter in our P.E. classes were fun and fullfilling! The students were all eager to run and learn new games and skills.
Kindergarten-First, have mastered their motor skills, and learing to do paddle work, with more dexterity.
Second, and Third grade, have learned about nutrition and the Food pyramid, what foods, and what portions.
Fourth and Fifth grade are working hard, we are learning the rules of pickleball, and the different strokes and movements involved. We are taking tests on the rules, and will be learning the different bones we have and were they are located.
Sixth- Eighth, grade have been busy learning the different bones and the rules of all all sports, we just finished an exciting soccer unit. This quarter we will learn the different rules of pickleball, with a test. And we will start a Floor Hockey Unit with the rules tests, and skills involved. We will be having a a bone test at the end of the quarter, as we are learning the different bones we use most often.

Welcome back from a wonderful summer break........
The students have been woking very hard. Our middle school have completed their physical fitness Test: shuttle run, sit-n-reach{flexibility}, push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. The students also ran the 1-mile with terrific times, the fastest time was Bob Nader at 5:52. Congratulations to all. We are still learning how important it is to pace, and breathing techniques.
We have discussed the different muscles of the body , where they are located, and what exercises are used with the different muscles.
We are now into our Pickleball Unit, they are learning serving rules, double bounce rule, forehand, backhand, and double strategies.
Our 4th and 5th grades, have also completed their phsical fitness tests, with great results. We are learning about our muscles, the names, and where they are located. A handout will soon be passed out showing the different muscles. We will be stating our soccer unit.
Our primary has reviewed all their locomotor sills, and have played several games involving the different skills. Pac-man, Shark Island, Hornet tag. They are all progressing well.

May Day
Time is really flying by. The kindergartners have mastered their locomotor skill, and are doing an excellent job with throwing and catching over and underhand
The first thru third grades performed well doing the hula hoop circuit. Different moves were challenging, but all enjoyed the challenge.
Fourth grade had the opportunity of walking to Washington Park, and use their batting and fielding skills that they have been practicing. Everyone got to hit, and did a very good job. We hope to go again if the weather permits.
Fifth grade is working on volleyball skills, and wiffle ball skills. We hope to get to the park for a try on the field.
Our middle school finished their badminto tournament with our winners as follows:
6th grade- Mike Metzler and Mike Loughran
Scott Jakobsze and Owen Geraghty
7th grade- Jeff Aguayo- Bob Nader
8th grade- Mike Dunn- Dan agiuffre

April beginnings
I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring break. The students seem all excited to be back and the start of nice weather.
kindergarten-third grade - We have started our manipulative skills-throwing, catching, and striking.
We will progress to T-ball, and pitching playing in a game situation.
4th-5th - The students have started to learn the official indoor Badminton rules for doubles. We have practiced the grip, the recieving stance, and the drop serve. We will be learing rotation, scoring, and doubles strategies in a game situation.
6th-7th-8th - We are starting our Badminton Tournament tomorrow. I will keep you posted on our developments.

March has gotten off to a roaring start:
Kindergarten has ben playing soft pilo hockey, We are continuing their throwing over and under hand. Playing the game of "Oscar the Grouch."
Third garde has been playing "Scooterball", they are exercising alot of leg muscles. A game of
with scooters, scoops, and whiffle ball. It develops leg strength, flexibility, and teamwork.

February Doings
K-3 Students are continuing working on their fitness exercises, We have been incorpor-
ating games of pillo-pollo hockey, and regular hockey. The students stick handling
and shooting to the goal nets is amazing, They have learned offense and defense
and have had wonderful sportsmanship.
4th-5th Students have reviewed their floor hockey skills of passing, shooting, and
goaltending. They have played several games, and have progressed nicely.
We have just started our fitness Unit, the students are enjoying seeing their
many challenges: sit-n-reach for flexibility, sit-ups timed for a minute,
flex hang and pull-ups, and rope climbing.
6th-8th We have finished our floor Hockey Tournament with outstanding ACTION
The teams all layed so well together, getting toknow each others moves. Very
exciting to say the least. We are on to Physical Fitness, Team Handball, and then
to our Badminton sklls. Will keep you up-dated on our Tournaments.
